The VAPS runs free tuition centers for the poor and disadvantaged children in selected villages of Virudhunagar District through the KATHIR children’s clubs. In continuation of this endeavour, VAPS has entered into an MOU with RAJIV GANDHI FOUNDATION with a goal to provide sustaining literacy facility to develop reading habits and enable the villagers to read the books/literature in the villages. The village libraries empower, enable and entertain the local educated mass in the targeted 10 villages. Interestingly, the village library is being managed by the community volunteers who are identified by the gram panchayats.
With the support of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF), a Youth Resource Center was established in Chatrapatti village, Madurai district in 2014. The aim of the center is to establish library in such a way that it becomes embedded in the process of education and thus an integral part of learning. Hence, library started functioning as resource center cater to the needs of the local community, particularly youth segment. Since implementation, more than 400 youth have been benefited by the resources of the center. Interestingly, the aspirants of competitive examination have utilized the library and information center optimally.
